I have chosen “Trash Talk” lesson as the most suitable for my English-speaking students. We all have the same problems regarding trash. Perhaps it is less visible in the USA or some European countries but in Moldova, it is a huge problem. Our students understand very well Moldova’s situation and they try to change things in a better way, so we, teachers must help them in their desire.
Regarding the lesson, I can say that it is interesting with many activities. My students had a similar lesson and they liked it and expressed their wish to have another lesson on the environment topic, so this one will be just perfect. We will adapt it for 45 minutes class and will have it in our second half of the year, in spring.
Unfortunately, we cannot divide trash on categories, as we do not have the possibility to recycle it. We may encourage students, their families, town community to pay more attention to the things they throw out, as all this pollute our life.
Students will improve their vocabulary with words on “environment” topic, “recycling”, and will write an essay or a small poem in this respect. Activities nr. 3 and 7 will contain much information about situation in Moldova and on the earth, students enjoy practical involvement and are very glad to see their work results appreciated by community. This lesson, actually, should be divided into two parts: theory and practice. As for our English lessons we have only in-class teaching-learning activity, we have to separate it from practical part, which is very important in this case. Then, we have a lesson for generalization.
I will be glad to apply this lesson plan with some changes to my class, which is a real-science profile class. They will like it too. Thanks for the idea of these lessons and for sharing them with us.

First of all,I want to thankyou for great ideas and good support for us English teachers to create our lessons in such a way that pupils should be prepared for real life and develope the ability to cope with real problems.
So, I have chosen "What is sevice learning?",as an excelent idea to link some of the activities suggested here with a theme from our curricula. Our students should understand that change must begin from young generation from everybody of us.
I shall connect this lesson plan with a lesson from 7th form (Compassion and Empathy),besides getting new words and new definitions of words like:phlanthropy, service learning, they will understand the importance of the common good, including parents.
I plan to create a great lesson and in order to practice all studied we shall collect some clothes pupill do not need and donate them to the pupils from "The Special Center for Children from Vulnerable Families",situated at 10 km distance from our town.
Hope to have good experience.

Before speaking about the lesson plan I have chosen I want to say thank you for implementing such a project, which teches students how to solve the problems of the community and that they are the sollution in solving this problems.
I have chosen the "We Can Help to Make a Change" lesson plan because it is an up-to-date problem in our school communities. We have a lot of children with special problems, that need special program for teaching and learning. Unfortunately these children are often ignored by the rest of the class.
This lesson plan is like a bridge between the real life and a topic from our curriculum. I will connect it with a lesson from the 9th grade called "Human Values", because in this class there are special children. Besides describing feelings of those who are excluded from social groups in school communities they will understand the state of being different and they will try to teach others to accept these children.
Thank you for these lesson plans which incude interesting and useful ideas.

I have chosen the "Sheltering and Caring for Animals" lesson plan.I think I could find to this lesson plan a place in our curricula even in the 4th grade while learning animals.Students will define animal shelter, animal welfare and non profit. They will develop a working knowledge of the types of animal shelters. They can identify how a shelter operates for the common good of a community. We can watch different videos about animal shelter/adoption centers from America and Moldova. Also they can research and share available information found about a local animal shelter’s needs. After discussing all these things in class they will share with their families friends, relatives about sheltering and caring for animals. To my mind, they will like it and I will be glad to apply this lesson plan with some little changes to my class.
THANK YOU very much for these wonderful ideas and GOOD LUCK to all!!!

I have chosen '' Air pollution and Asthma'' lesson as the most suitable for the 6th grade that I'm teaching. In our country this is a huge problem that requires immediate solutions.Regarding the lesson I want to say it is very useful with a lot of activities. I like the idea with inviting a guest who has Asthma or a doctor. In our school there are two pupils with this diagnosis. They can be invited as a guest because they know a lot about Asthma. They can tell about the difficulties they face. Also we can use most of the proposed activities where pupils will think about improving the quality of air at school, at home, and in the community promoting the common good. I will glad to apply this lesson plan with some changes of course. It will serve as a supplement to the lesson ''Save our Nature.''

First of all, I want to thank you for giving a solution of a problem on giving tasks. I have chosen "A person of Honor" a mini lesson plan but very important up-to-date problem of our society. We have a lot of children that are telling lies and we teachers must do everything not to allow them to destroy themselves as a person. Mahatma Gandi's expressions about the "honour" are the main branch of the lesson "Family - God's Mastrepiece" in the 9 th. form. I as a teacher explain them that the main qualityof a person, of a family, of a society is "Honesty' At the end of the lesson I gave them a task to talk about family values but at home they should write a paragraph about their family values, draw their family values trees but remember about their honesty. It was very interesting to impliment this mini lesson plan and I think that children better understood the meaning of honesty in their life.
Thanks for interresting ideas which I try to use and have good results.

I have chosen ''Attributes of a Civil Society'' lesson plan for the 11-th form and I would adapt this plan to the lesson ''Know Your Rights'' from the curriculum for the 11-th form .
Relevant activities:
- Sharing booklets of Amnesty International and writing letters for supporting the victims of repressive governments (Maratonul Scrisorilor) in order to promote and defend human rights.
- Watching a documentary film on human rights that have been infringe and decide who is guilty for their misfortunes and who can be involved to solve these cases.
- Inviting an expert in Human Rights to inform students about the real situation from our country and worlwide.
- In small groups, discussing what character traits a person should possess in order to be able to withstand all kinds of adversities
and nuisances. Explaining in students' own words how these qualities can help young people take difficult decisions about
highly controversial issues.
dignity, self-respect and respect for other human beings, compassion, integrity and accountability,
gratefulness, tolerance, generosity, open-mindedness, self-confidence, maturity, independence, courage,
charisma, responsibility, flexibility, perseverance, communicativeness, humility, thoughtfulness...
- Activity, “A Day without Conflicts”. Setting aside class time for a special lesson or speaking session on
conflicts. Preparing a current events bulletin board for students' classmates to fill with newspaper articles about conflicts
and negotiation skills. Formulating arguments that would support the belief that violence breeds violence...
"Rights are effective only when people are aware of them, assert them and defend them" affirmed Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for Justice, Freedom and Security. inviting European children and teenagers .My hope is that young people will enjoy working on this subject, while becoming aware of what their rights are

I have chosen "Air pollution and Asthma" lesson for the 11-th grade. It could be used for unit 6 "In Harmony with Nature",where we talk about interaction between man and nature.
I manifest a great interes for this issue because a member of my family suffers from asthma, that's why I read all about it.
I like the idea to invite a person who could tell about the negative impact of pollution. It is a huge problem and more and more people suffer from it. I will impliment some ideas in my lesson plan and I'm sure my students will like it.

I have chosen " Those amazing animals". This lesson is good to be realised with the students of the ( 9-th form, because we have a unit where we speak about animals, their behavior, their habits of life, the habitats and we debate about should be animals used or not in medical research etc.
It will be interesting to speak about Animals in Sports and Entertainment and Animals In Entertainment informational.
We can discuss a lot about the most popular forms of animal
racing , how aimals have been and will continue to be used in entertainment, often to the detriment of the animals.
We discuss how the animals are used in different medical experiments, and the entertainment is another way of people s cruelty.
In our country the animals are not protected by any law. We can discuss about the animals rights and think about the law than can be drawn up and approved by parliament.
If I include these two more topics: Animals in Sports and Entertainment and Animals In Entertainment informational the debate about the animal rights ( should they be used in different experiments for people s benefits ) wil be more interesting.

Browsing through the great variety of the useful resources of the "Learning to Give Library" I have come across a lot of interesting lesson plans that will be a good helper in making our classes more interactive. I have chosen to comment on the lesson plan for the 6th grade "What Is Honesty". I consider it to be a good introductory lesson for the text from reading together lesson "Honesty Is the Best Policy". The first benefit of incorporating this plan to our curriculum will be the fact that it gives the students the possibility to begin the lesson by the definition of the word “honesty” given by the dictionary. After that it engages students in group working, where they should come up with examples of honest and dishonest behavior. A good conclusion for this lesson is the idea with the chart for keeping track of the key words that belong to the honesty circle, thus giving the students a clear picture of the term and at the same time defining its main features. I consider this plan a good way to introduce the text from our books and vary the usual approach to teaching this topic. Thank you for sharing with us these amazing resources, which will surely be of great help in our never-ending process of quest for the perfect lesson plan.

I have chosen „Take a Deep Breath” lesson for implementing it in the 11th grade, Unit 6 Lesson 1, In harmony with Nature. It represents a very actual problem nowadays (The air pollution). The proposed lesson plan is full of interesting activities for my students. They will find out some information about air pollution, new terms related to it, and the most important they will apply the lesson in practice by doing a poster in groups on one of the topics included in Activity no.18. What I would like to add for this activity no. 18 is the following topic: Deforestation, which is also a cause of air pollution and represents a very delicate problem in our area. The groups will be assigned to present their posters and information other classes, in this way to raise awareness among their colleagues and other pupils of the value of keeping the air clean. After that they will post their works in the hall of the lyceum. They can also research some information regarding the wooded area of Republic of Moldova, and make comparative analysis with other countries. It would be very attractive for them to see the situation of other countries regarding the problem of air pollution and to make a ranking including ten most unpolluted air countries.

There are so many interesting and useful plans which can be used as support for our lessons. The lesson which I have chosen is "Addressing Poverty". Three main questions based on this project should be answered HOW? WHY? WHAT FOR? The plan can be used in the 11-th form. Although we seem to live in a global village with tendency to cope with different problems such as hunger, poverty, homelessness. I hope that this topic will raise awareness within our students, our community. During the lesson and the process itself I want them to understand the problems these people face, sometimes these people need assistance and communication.I believe that this cross -border collaboration is a perfect way to teach and show how to help such people who are in need. Discussions, surveys, activities inside and outside the classroom will be some of the tools to express disadvantages people encounter . By this I will try to teach them tolerance, acceptance and appreciation.

Hello to everybody! The reason i am fullfiling assingment 3 a litle bit later than the dead linem is over is my busy schedule on the one hand and the problematic connection with the internet in the last day on the other hand. But anyhow i am a part of the project and i follow the motto" better later than don't do at all.
Thus, regarding to the assingment i want to remark that the virtual library proposed by our colleagues from North Caroline is a great help for teachers from Moldova as it offers a lot of new methods, techniques and new ideas to make our English lessons more interesting and motivating. Personaly i'd like to to speak about lesson plan "action through art" . I think this lessonn plan is a great support for us while teaching students of the 11th form the lesson 1 unit 4, where we have to speak about the role of art in our live. The lesson project that is presented on-line gives us many learning strategies , eloquent examples and interesting facts about art from all over the world and and from the USA , that can be used during the lesson and this fact , for sure, will have a great success among the students.
Thanks a lot for this opportunity to explore the new ideas about planning lessons projects.

On December 9th, 2016, my students and I celebrated International Human Rights Day by talking about our individual rights and our cultural rights. We also made a promise to support the rights of others and explained how we would uphold that promise. So,that's why I have chosen ,,Attributes of a civil Society'' lesson plan for the 11-th grade.I would adapt this plan to the lesson ,,Know your rights '' from the curriculum for the11th form.I think this lesson plan is a great support for us while teaching students of the 11th form, where we have to speak about human rights . In order to help my students, they can watch different videos about ,,Child soldiers and Child Labour'',Seeking a better life'' etc. The students will explore, formulate and articulate personal opinions and determine which of children's rights have been infringed in each case and decide who is guilty for their misfortunes. In small groups we will discuss what character traits a person should possess in order to be able to withstand all kinds of adversities and nuisancesand then to explain how these qualities can help young people take difficult decisions about highly controversial issues. We will finish our lesson organizing ''A day without conflicts ''.Thank you for these wonderful ideas!

I also chose "Action through Arts" as there is great value in using emotive artistic texts (visual, kinesthetic, literary and performing arts) to engage the hearts and minds of global citizens and prompt advocacy for various social injustices. In addition to the texts supplied through this lesson, I plan to extend the activities using various other artistic expressions such as spoken word and music which are two genres that speak to this generation of learners. Students used music as a vehicle to raise food for the homeless and hungry. I will upload the video to their presentation that netted over 500lbs of food that was donated to a local food bank.

It is really important for our students to understand how their talents and good will can contribute to the lives of others.

http://www.learningtogive.org/units/animal-shelters
Students identify the mission and needs of animal shelters, both private and municipal. Learners will plan and implement a service project to aid a shelter. They will demonstrate their knowledge about animal shelters by sharing their knowledge with their peers.

4th grade curriculum we learn about animal adaptations. We could learn about the local animal shelter possum wood acres and discuss what they need to allow the animals to live and thrive there. What animals do they take in? What types of bedding and food do they need to live? What students can do to help? Why are these animals important to our area? Students could visit the facility that has had some damage done to it from the latest hurricane. (fast land changes is also in the 4th grade science curriculum) Students could try to raise money (Math curriculum: How much money do they need each year?) or get supplies for the shelter. To be nationally relevant students would need to pick an animal shelter in another country and try to raise awareness and money for that shelter as well.

"Introduction to Music of the Civil Rights Era" is a lesson I've taught several times to both middle and high school students. We are currently working on a similar project about music and social justice. I like home connection of asking an adult if they participated in the Civil Rights Movement to further connect the learning with a real life scenario.
The part that is missing (compared to what I've taught) is the musicians themselves. There are a lot of power videos and interviews with artists identifying how and why the songs became anthems for Civil Rights.
When teaching about historical events I encourage the students to go beyond 'names and dates' to find out what life was like during that time period by examining what the artists of that time were doing.

I chose the lesson Communities in Crisis Referencing the Holocaust and philanthropic acts. Everyday in the news, our students are having first experience on the effects of refugee crisis around us, be it in Europe or the US. The Syrian refugee crisis has already taken a continental/global dimension and is no longer a Syria's problem. Iraq, Libya, Sudan, and Afghanistan are all in "Communities in Crisis'
Math students would use statistics to identify the number of say, Syrian refugees accepted in various nations and use data representation methods to display such statistics.
On Philanthropy, students would draw on the German volunteers experience in welcome centers where people welcomed total strangers with warm clothing and food as a show of compassion. Resources would be online news sites, videos.
activities would include researching, data collection and analysis, and display using a variety of methods

Sheltering and Caring for Animals
This lesson would be informative, exciting, and create real enthusiasm with our children. Many children share a love for animals, but are unaware of the situation that many animals are in. Many children know about shelters, but don’t understand what led those animals to be there in the first place. The resources for this lesson are appropriate and differentiate depending on the maturity of the student. This is very useful as the lesson can adapt to different levels of learners. I would adapt the activity to include visits to a local shelter if possible, or if not, a spokesperson from the shelter who could visit the children and discuss what it is they do and why it is important. It would also be a great chance to explore charity and fundraising.

The lesson plan, “Those Amazing Animals” can be adjusted to be relevant to NC science curriculum and its relation to US culture. In fourth grade, students study animal adaptations- characteristics and behaviors animals have developed in an effort to survive, thrive, and reproduce. Students can pick an animal often used in entertainment and study behavioral and physical adaptations of the given animal. Students will then observe how those adaptations are manipulated for human entertainment. Students will also evaluate if the adaptations (particularly behavioral adaptations) have changed as a result of the animals’ lives in captivity and/or show business. Students will then use their findings to write an informative essay to an entertainer who uses the animal they studied as part of his or her show. The purpose of the letter would be to inform the entertainer of the animal’s unique adaptations and how the animal could be negatively impacted by its life in the entertainment business. Students should also offer encouragement and ideas as to how the animal’s caretaker can better its show or the animal’s environment to preserve its unique adaptations.

The lesson plan, “Sheltering and Caring for Animals”, could be a versatile and exciting lesson for our students. My class is extremely excited when it comes to animals. Many students can only think about how neat it would be to work with animals. I think that students only see the positive and fun part of caring for animals. I believe that this lesson could give students some good insight into what an animal shelter or a preserve is. Perhaps this lesson could shed some light on the darker side of taking care of animals.
I feel as though this lesson is appropriate for many students and perhaps with a differentiated instruction, we could include our lower level students. I feel that this lesson has something for all learners and could provide a great deal of hands on experience for the student.
The lesson could coincide with a visit to an animal shelter or preserve. The lesson could also be accomplished at the school with a visiting caregiver. This lesson has many opportunities for learning and can include learning in mathematics, science, language arts, social studies, and art.

From my point of view, one of the interesting topics to be taught, discussed and integrated into a lesson in the VIII – th form is “Healthy Water!?”.
Our city, Soroca, in located on the bank of the Nistru river, and the topic about healthy and clean water is very important for us.
We are very grateful that you help us with some lesson plans, ideas and activities to be used within our lessons. So, we can match some activities proposed with some exercises from Unit 8, Lesson 2 – “Be Respectful of nature”.
We can choose a text about Water Cycle, discuss how the process takes place, take pictures of the river in the different parts of the day.
An activity which will be very interesting: invite a specialist from the Public Health Center who will test the water from the river, with the help of the students.
I hope the lesson will be very interesting.

In looking at the lessons provided, "Addressing poverty" is one that hits close to home as we serve a population that is predominately low socioeconomic status. It is important that our scholars are aware of the prevalence of poverty and that we are not the only country that experiences it and that there are some countries that do not provide assistance. The scholars have been and will continue to be exposed to poverty and are able to compare circumstances they experiences with those of others. Everything shared with youth today must come attached with relevant reasoning. On our campus, relevance must be present just for "buy-in".

Another topic/lesson, "service learning"; this was another topic that our scholars are familiar with as we are involved in a load of service learning projects: partnerships with schools, helping children with leukemia, and volunteering in the community. In all experiences, our scholars are required to journal/reflect their experiences.
